our story

pampeano

In a culture hooked on the new, choosing what lasts is a quiet rebellion. pampeano belongs to that quiet rebellion. Our leather goods are crafted to endure – a standard shaped by our origins in South America, where our signature belts are part of the polo culture. The letter p of pampeano is intentionally lower case; informal, relaxed, no pomposity.

The letter p of pampeano is intentionally lower case; informal, relaxed, no pomposity, back to slow; away from the city rush. pampeano proudly specialises in handcrafted leather goods crafted by hand, to last.

we don’t make pieces for a season. we make the ones that earn their place - worn often, ageing well, staying relevant long after trends have moved on

commitment to quality

at pampeano, quality is woven into every detail, from the material to the craftsmanship behind each product

artisan handcraft

pampeano’s master artisans bring generations of expertise to each product, handcrafting every piece with meticulous care

born from tradition

pampeano's leather has always been vegetable-tanned, a process that may have been around for 5000 years and the fundamental principles remain unchanged

distinctly pampeano

Our pampa diamonds are sewn with wax-dipped threads which are threads that have been coated with wax to improve their performance in various applications. In leather crafting, waxed threads provide durability and resistance to wear. They are used for stitching leather goods such as wallets, bags, and shoes. There are many benefits of using wax- dipped threads including:

tangle resistance

wax prevents the thread from tangling and knotting during use, making it easier to handle

increased durability

the wax coating adds strength and makes the thread more resistant to abrasion; further the increased friction means that the threads rarely pull

water resistance

waxed threads have a degree of water resistance, which is beneficial in outdoor applications and environments

why vegetable tanned leather?

environmentally friendly: Unlike conventional chrome tanning, vegetable tanning uses naturally derived tannins from plant materials such as oak and chestnut bark and leaves. This traditional process creates leather with a more natural character and leaves no harmful chemical residues.

enduring by nature: Vegetable-tanned leather is renowned for its strength and longevity. Its substantial, robust finish is designed to age beautifully, developing a rich, individual patina over time.

rich in natural character: Vegetable-tanned leather retains the distinctive texture, a natural, earthy appearance and smell. Its tactile quality and natural variations are much appreciated by the craftsmen who work with it and consumers who use it.

a time-honoured process: Vegetable tanning is a slower, more considered process than many modern chemical tanning methods. The additional time, skill and attention to detail required are hallmark of exceptional craftsmanship and premium-quality leather.

Everything we do at pampeano is inspired by the beautiful natural world; from our celebration of the natural materials to the colour schemes of our vibrant threads, even down to our signature pampa diamond reflecting the breathtaking Andes mountain range. Our products are presented in premium gift boxes, calico bags, and branded paper bag as standard. These packaging materials are 100% plastic-free. We encourage our customers to give the beautiful cream cardboard boxes a second life as desk organisers, keepsake boxes, or storage for everyday accessories, helping to extend their lifecycle.
